Her er samtalen jeg hadde med GBM; The T5 is known to not to be the fastest shifting gearbox in the world but as long as the correct oil is used and there are no clutch drag issues there should not be any problems with high rpm gear changes, the gearbox should still change gear OK, just not very quickly. The wide and close ratio T5 kits (with optional heavy duty selector fork sets) that we supply use the same synchromesh assemblies as the standard gearbox so the change is not effected in any way, for better or for worse. In comparison with the TKO600 gearbox our heavy duty T5 gearboxes seem to be of at least comparable in strength (if not stronger), with the advantage of not having to change anything on the car as you would have to if you wished to fit a TKO. While we’ve not fitted a G-Force T5 kit we are the UK agents for G-Force and know they make a very good product line, however, the G-Force T5 gear kit is made for the Ford Mustang T5 gearbox and will not fit the Sierra Cosworth gearbox. -- There is not a great deal of difference with the shift quality on the T5 or the TKO gearboxes. We would not recommend using a quickshifter with the T5 gearbox, all the quickshifter will do is try to force the speed of the gear change to a faster shift speed than the gearbox will want to. The gear kit does fit into the standard T5 cases but there is a modification that needs to be done to these cases (the relevant drawings are supplied with the gear kits). The heavy duty selector forks sets are recommended for competition use or where customer has a history of damaging the standard forks but the gear kit will work with the standard fork sets. -- We don’t have an official figure for this gear kit but the most powerful Cosworth running one of these gearboxes is the Norris Motorsport car and this has a short stroke YB turbo engine producing in the region of 850bhp. These gearboxes are only minimally nosier than the standard gearboxes; the heavy duty gears used are of a semi helical cut, not fully straight cut design.
